Iran Legal Helpline

How the helpline works

Three straightforward steps take you from an unanswered legal question to a clear next step, all by email and in plain English.

A simple way to begin

Most legal problems are easier to solve when they are raised early, yet many people delay because they are unsure where to start. The helpline is designed so that starting costs you nothing more than a short email. There is no form to complete and no account to create. You write to info [at] iranlegalhelpline [dot] com in your own words and we take it from there.

Step one: describe your situation

Tell us what happened, where in Iran it happened, who is involved and what outcome you would like. Plain English is ideal. If the facts are complicated, a list of key events in date order works well. If you hold documents such as contracts, title deeds, invoices, notices or court papers, attach copies or list them.

  • Use a subject line that names the topic, for example “Property sale, Tehran”.
  • Mention any deadline in the first sentence.
  • Tell us which country you are writing from, so we understand the practical constraints.

Step two: we review and clarify

Your message is read carefully by someone who understands how legal matters in Iran are usually handled. If anything important is missing, we will ask. Our aim at this stage is to understand the real question behind your message and to identify the area of law it belongs to, whether that is company law, debt recovery, property, family and inheritance, intellectual property, employment or something else.

We respond promptly. Messages marked urgent, or that mention a near deadline, are reviewed first.

Step three: you are directed to the right help

Once we understand your matter, we explain your realistic options and the sensible next step. For some questions that is practical information: which documents you will need, how a process usually works, or what to ask for. For others it means formal legal advice or representation, in which case we direct you to a lawyer who handles that type of matter and explain how engagement would work.

Contacting the helpline does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship. If you decide to instruct a lawyer, the scope of the work and the terms are agreed with you in writing before anything begins, so there are no surprises.

Confidentiality

Legal questions are often personal or commercially sensitive. Everything you share with the helpline is treated in confidence and used only to understand your matter and direct you to appropriate help.

Who uses the helpline

We hear from business owners with unpaid invoices or questions about a company, from families dealing with an inheritance, from property owners living abroad, and from people who simply need a document prepared or a power of attorney arranged. If your question is connected to Iran and has a legal side, it belongs here. You can browse the main legal topics to see examples.

Common questions

What is the Iran Legal Helpline?

It is a first point of contact for anyone with a legal question connected to Iran. You describe your issue by email, we make sure we understand it, and we direct you to the right help, whether that is practical information, a next step you can take yourself, or a lawyer who handles your type of matter.

Is contacting the helpline the same as hiring a lawyer?

No. Writing to the helpline does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship. If your matter needs formal advice or representation, the terms of that engagement are agreed separately and in writing before work begins.

What if my matter is urgent?

Say so clearly in the subject line and include any deadlines or hearing dates in the first lines of your message. We respond promptly, and urgent matters are reviewed first.

Ready to ask your question?

One clear email is all it takes to start. Describe your situation and we will take it from there.
